About Me

Dr. Lauren Rothstein is a licensed clinical psychologist with experience working alongside individuals with a range of mental health concerns. She has extensive training and specialization in the areas of anxiety and mood disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and severe and persistent mental illness (SMI). She is a Cognitive Behavioral psychologist who values eclecticism and integrating different therapeutic approaches to best meet each individual’s current perceived needs and goals. Dr. Rothstein approaches therapy from a person-centered, strength-based, and collaborative perspective. She believes that the individual brings the expertise of their experiences to the table while she brings her clinical expertise, lending to a true partnership in the therapy relationship.

Dr. Rothstein received her undergraduate degree at The University of Maryland— College Park and went on to complete both her M.A. and Ph.D. at American University in Washington, D.C. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center and her post-doctoral fellowship at the Washington DC VA Medical Center (DCVAMC). Dr. Rothstein then went on to join the DCVAMC as a Staff Psychologist in the PTSD Clinic.

Dr. Rothstein has transitioned to private practice, in which she focuses on providing individual therapy to adults struggling with anxiety and mood disorders, PTSD and trauma-related difficulties, and navigating life stressors.

In her clinical work, Dr. Rothstein uses a collaborative and evidence-based approach to treatment. She is well-versed in a range of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Written Exposure, and tailors her approach to each client's unique needs and preferences. She is committed to providing compassionate, effective care and helping her clients achieve their treatment goals.

Dr. Rothstein is licensed to provide Telehealth services in DC, MD, VA, and other PSYPACT participating states.
